The Spirits are minor characters from Ustwo's puzzle-adventure game Monument Valley 2. They speak to Ro and assist her when her daughter has to leave to have her own adventures. They are believed to be former mothers come back to give Ro advice.
Later, when Ro's daughter is on a journey by herself, they give her motherly advice and assure her that there is much to learn.
Backstory[]
Almost nothing is known about the ghosts. One ghost, however, is Ro's mother after she passed away. Ro's mother had to leave Ro, too, and she returns to give Ro advice.
Quotes[]
- "Even in our youth we knew the work our mothers left for us. Ro... I see fear... Do you forget how young we were?"
- "It is easy to be nervous when she grows so quickly. Often the challenges we face do not require the strength to hold on. But the strength to let go."
- "In our haste in looking forward, we too often forget the past. Time will not be altered and while it passes your purpose remains unchanged. Our monuments lie unfinished and we look to you to continue our work."
Trivia[]
- One of the ghosts strongly resembles Ida from the first game.
- The advice they give Ro implies that the child needs to learn about the Valley and Ro is nervous to let her go on her own. The ghosts remind her how young she herself was when her mother left her.
