⚠️ Spoiler Warning! ⚠️
This page contains spoilers for the story or gameplay of the second game, Monument Valley 2. It is recommended that you complete the game before reading.
Ro is the main character in Ustwo's puzzle-adventure game Monument Valley 2. She teaches her daughter about the Valley, until she lets her daughter sail away on a ship by herself. From that point on, she travels through the valley by herself. Not much is known about her past or backstory, but she was seemingly friends with Doortem before. She also expresses sad feelings about her daughter, as the ghosts who speak to her console her about her daughter growing up so fast and how she must learn to follow her own path. She also has a flute that she sometimes plays and has had since she was a young child.
Appearance[]
Ro is a woman with a blank, expressionless white face and a black bun as her hairstyle. She wears an orange dress-like coat, which shifts colors throughout the game. When completing a chapter and forming Geometry at a pedestal, she wears an orange turban.
Backstory[]
The player gets a glimpse into Ro's backstory in the chapter Men-an-tol, where Ro is seen chasing her younger self around until she catches up with her and helps her through the levels. She finally finds her younger form following a woman in a rainbow cloak. This woman is revealed to be her mother, who had to send Ro away similarly to how she sent her daughter away.
Ro also has a daughter of her own, who she takes around the Valley before they are separated, teaching her how to make the Sacred Geometry. She seems to not want to part ways with her daughter, but the Spirits guide her on her journey of accepting her daughter's independence. Ro seems to be a wise woman, entrusted by the Spirits to follow in their lead in building monuments and creating Sacred Geometry. [1][2]
