Pedestals are a mechanic in all Monument Valley games. They appear at the end of the level, an eight-pointed star shape where Sacred Geometry or Sacred Light is created, harvested, or returned.

Monument Valley[]

In Monument Valley, when Ida walks up to a pedestal, she takes off her hat and places the piece of Sacred Geometry on it. This is the ending of most levels. Monument Valley levels that don't end with a pedestal are Monument Valley (level) and The Descent. Pedestals function the exact same way in Forgotten Shores and Ida's Dream.

Monument Valley 2[]

In Monument Valley 2, there two types of pedestals. One is the same pattern as a regular pedestal, but instead as a giant platform with a hole in the center. When Ro or her daughter stand on it, they take out a hat and collect the stars that come from the center hole. This happens in The Vestibule and The Lyceum. The other looks identical to platforms in Monument Valley. When Ro or her daughter walk up to it they take out the same hat, release the stars, then draw a pattern with them and place the newly created Sacred Geometry on the pedestal. Monument Valley 2 levels that don't end with a pedestal are Monument Valley 2 (level), The Docks, Aphelion, and The Orchard.

Monument Valley 3[]

Monument Valley 3's equivalent of a pedestal

Ends of chapters in Monument Valley 3 also involve a star-shaped pedestal-like structure, typically where Sacred Light is harvested. As different forms of light are found throughout the game, not every chapter features one. Also, as chapter ends are spots to collect light from, they feature holes in the center from which to draw forth light.
