⚠️ Spoiler Warning! ⚠️
This page contains spoilers for the story or gameplay of the third game, Monument Valley 3. It is recommended that you complete the game before reading.

Monument Valley 3, or Monument Valley III, is the third game in Ustwo's Monument Valley series, released exclusively through Netflix Games on 10 December 2024. The game follows Noor, a new protagonist. An animated short entitled The Lighthouse was released a day before the game, taking place in the same universe.

In July of 2025, the game was removed from Netflix Games. In the same month, the game was made available for PC and console platforms. Monument Valley 3 returned to mobile platforms on 3 December 2025, independent of Netflix.

Keeping with Ustwo's theme of using their games to spread awareness for different issues, Monument Valley 3's end credits include a message in support of flood relief programs, and a link with more information about their efforts to aid those at a high flood risk.[1] Ustwo has partnered with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) for this purpose.[2]

Plot[]

Main storyline[]

Noor is an apprentice under her mentor; the Lighthouse serves as the game's hub, where the two can interact with each other and other characters between levels. The Lighthouse is very important to Noor's mentor, whose mission is to protect sailors on the dangerous waters; she is "haunted" by the guilt of boats that have been lost in the past due to the Lighthouse's malfunction.

The plot of the game revolves around Noor traveling to collect Sacred Light in a staff to nourish the Lighthouse— with a boat called Boatem to travel on— in the same way Sacred Geometry was created and returned in the first two games. At first, Noor and her mentor do so together; in Chapter 5, The Temple, however, the light does not behave as expected, splintering and turning red instead of returning to the staff. The Temple begins to fall apart, and Noor's mentor is left behind, urging Noor to continue on because "one must be left behind". Noor is now tasked with keeping the lighthouse burning bright by herself, receiving her mentor's staff as her own.

More lights fail to enter Noor's staff and, by extension, the Lighthouse; a series of mishaps causes it to crumble, and a character Noor picks up on her boat reveals that her family has been lost at sea due to a storm and flood. Noor recovers them, but on the way back to the Lighthouse, the three of them are swallowed by a giant fish and have to escape.

The Nomad, a mysterious traveler who previously arrived at the Lighthouse to gift the characters a flower, is now lost, too. When her flower blooms at the hub and starts glowing, Noor finds the Nomad, to discover that the flower is a new source of light. Through it, she restores some light to the Lighthouse, and is able to collect more through the final few levels. At the end of the first Storyline, the Lighthouse and all of the Town's citizens are restored.

The Garden of Life[]

A new story was released on 22 April 2025, entitled "Monument Valley 3: The Garden of Life." The Nomad would invite Noor to meet her at a tree near the Lighthouse. The Nomad would explain that she wishes to grow a garden for the village, and would ask Noor to harvest some light for it. A townsperson would show Noor where to find it: inside some flowers budding in the water. After Noor brought the light to the Nomad, a structure would begin to rise up around the tree and the Nomad would speak some more of her past. Harvesting more light would progressively grow more of the garden, and Noor would continue with this mission. Eventually, a new chapter would be unlocked, and the Nomad would reveal her true form.

Throughout the activities are "mini-puzzles" for Noor to complete, and an associated chapter of the same name.

Because Monument Valley 3 was absent from mobile platforms for some time, The Garden of Life was re-released to mobile platforms on 3 December 2025. On the same day, this update released for console and PC platforms. This new iteration of the expansion retains the previous storyline (growing a garden, connecting with the Nomad), but additional content allows Noor to explore and interact with other villagers as well.
