Monument Valley 2, or Monument Valley II, is a puzzle-adventure game released by Ustwo Games in 2017. It involves manipulating the environment to create paths and find ways through the levels, or chapters. It is a successor to the game Monument Valley, and like its predecessor, it focuses on artistic graphics, impossible objects, and M.C. Escher-inspired landscapes. The focus is on a mother and daughter pair; Ro and her daughter interact with their environment and Sacred Geometry similarly to Ida from the first game, though it is unknown whether the game is a sequel or prequel.

Initially released for iOS platforms in June of 2017, the game went on to be available for Android in November of the same year. It eventually became available for PC in July of 2022, and for consoles such as the Playstation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch in 2025. An expansion chapter known as The Lost Forest was added in 2021 to support forest conservation efforts.

Plot[]

Ro and her daughter are traveling together, creating[1] Sacred Geometry in each level to finish monuments (the Spirits in the game mention that the monuments lie unfinished and say that it is the mother's and daughter's responsibility to finish them). In the first game, Ida has stolen the Sacred Geometry, and in doing so, has destroyed life in her Valley. Thus, it is possible that Monument Valley 2 could be a prequel. Since the Spirits mention beginning to build the monuments and needing someone to continue them, it's likely that if Monument Valley 2 takes place in the same Valley, it is before the events of Monument Valley, when monuments are already created.

Ro and her daughter are traveling together, finishing the building monuments—evidently by forming Sacred Geometry. Ro seems to be teaching her daughter how to do so, too. Though Ro is worrying about her, as the Spirits imply, she must send her daughter away so she can be independent and grow up. This sparks memories in Ro, too, who uses the powers of her friend Doortem to enter her own memories, remembering that her mother sent her away, too. By the end of the game, Ro and her daughter are reunited, the former realizing that the latter has grown up.
