This page contains spoilers for the story or gameplay of the first game, Monument Valley. It is recommended that you complete the game before reading.

Ida is the main character in Ustwo's adventure-puzzle game Monument Valley. In the game, she is on a mission to return the Sacred Geometry she had stolen, solving puzzles and meeting friends along the way.

Appearance[]

Ida wears a plain white dress and white pointed cap. Her face is completely white and blank, as is the rest of her body. Under her hat she has what seems to be dark brown hair. Her neck is also this dark brown color.

Monument Valley[]

Before the events of the game, Ida was the Bird Queen and lived with her subjects, the Crows. Ida was fascinated by humans and their Sacred Geometry. She steals it and because of this, Ida and her people are cursed. They all forget their previous selves, Ida turning into a human and her subjects turning bleak and colorless. The Crows were cursed to forever walk the broken monuments of the valley.

In Monument Valley, Ida is on a quest for forgiveness for stealing the Sacred Geometry. She travels throughout the land, returning a new piece of geometry in each level. Along the way, she meets Totem, who helps her out with some of the puzzles. However, Totem sinks into the ocean at the end of Chapter VI: The Labyrinth, only returning in Chapter IX: The Descent. She also meets the Storyteller, one of the builders of Monument Valley, who talks to her and guides her.

At the end of the game, once Ida has returned all of the Geometry, the curse is lifted. She turns back into her true form: the Queen of the Birds. The Crows also turn into their true selves, becoming colorful birds. With Ida in the lead, they all fly up and leave the valley.

Monument Valley 2[]

Ida is not present in Monument Valley 2, as it isn't connected narrative-wise to the first game, but at the beginning of the second chapter, The Vestibule, a group of crows are seen surrounding a fruit tree. All but one of the five crows is black; Ida could be referenced here, the one white Queen among the crows.
